Painter cum dramatist Bhakta Pariyar passes away

KALIMPONG, June 25:
The
hills have been grieved by the demise of Bhakta Pariyar, a painter and a
dramatist who carved a niche for himself in the region and abroad through his
tremendous artistic ability. Late Pariyar who was facing multiple health issues
since the past 2 years took his last breath in the afternoon hours of Sunday,
June 24, 2012 at his residence.
Late
Pariyar who was born on October 25, 1945 acquired his education from the Scottish
Universities Mission Institution (SUMI). His claim to fame was through his much
loved dramas namely, ‘Bhagalo’ and ‘Ani Bhalemungro Runcha’. After making
much name through his artworks, Late Pariyar was invited to Shillong by the
Assam Rifles where he painted the portrait of India’s former President,
Fakiruddin Ali Ahmed. His paintings have even reached in many European
countries.
Late
Pariyar who used to carry an independent thought process, was awarded with
Nirman Puraskar, Gaule Jamat Puraskar, Dr Parasmani Pradhan Puraskar in 2001,
Jurbi Art Puraskar along with numerous felicitations by various Organizations.
It has also been informed that one of his paintings was sold in 13 lakhs. The
Kalimpong Artist Association Secretary, Tika Pradhan mourning his death has
stated, that Late Pariyar’s demise is a great loss in the field of arts.
Late
Pariyar left behind his wife, 2 sons and 2 daughters. His last rite will be
conducted on June 26.

Once....and till my last breathe..he I mean ... Bhakta Pariyar...is ..not was but STILL IS AN great artist..miss you....
