SUMI becomes Cross Country marathon team champs for the 8th time

The SUMI and Janta
Junior High School dominated the Cross Country cum Half Marathon conducted by
Kumudini Homes Alumni Association today in Kalimpong.
The Cross Country
marathon of 23kms for boys started from Damber Chowk while 17kms for girls
started from Dr. Graham Homes and ended at Mela Ground. Ramesh Tamang of SUMI
after defeating the 4 times champ, Prabal Chettri of SUMI became the winner in
the boys category. Prabal Chettri and Bikram Thapa from Kumudini Homes stood 2nd
and 3rd, respectively. Ramesh’s win made SUMI the team championship
winner for the 8th time.
Likewise, in the girls
category, Sabitri Rai from Janta JHS was the winner followed by Pushpa Dangal
from Laley Sampo HS and Dichen Sherpa from Pakhang Gumpa HS, in the 2nd
and the 3rd position, respectively. Janta JHS became the girls team
champion.
The SUMI also stood as
the winner in the 200*84 mtr rally marathon (for boys) along with St. George’s
HS in the 2nd and DGH in the 3rd. In the girls rally
marathon, St. George’s HS, DGH and Jubilee HS were the top 3 winners.
Likewise, in the 1500
mtrs marathon for boys, Saroj Mangar stood 1st, Binod Tamang stood 2nd
and Pranay Rai stood 3rd.
STA Secretary, BP Basnet
who is also a former teacher and student of Kumudini Homes presided over as the
chief guest. The GTA Sabhasad Sunil Pradhan, Teachers’ In-charge of Kumudini
family, Yangden Ghising, President Tapan Kumar Pradhan and Secretary Praveen
Rai were present as the special guest.
