Awareness programme on human trafficking organized at Indo-Bhutan border

In order to stop human trafficking and to generate awareness among the people, the Non Governmental Organisation, MARG in collaboration with the Darjeeling police today conducted awareness programmes at Jaldaka and Jolug near India-Bhutan border.
The programme had the presence of the members of the NGOs and public apart from the students.
The founder of the MARG, Nirnay John Chettri and inspector Rabin Thapa was present as the resource persons of the day.
Both of them stressed and imparted their knowledge on human trafficking.  Inspector Thapa in his address appealed one and all not to carry away in the words of the strangers if they happen to place big big dreams in the metro cities and one must inform the police immediately.
He also talked about Sony TV serial Crime Partol’s episode of Darjeeling.
Founder Chettri said that the people of the area have to come forward in order to combat human trafficking. He also said that many childrens who are far away from homes; working in strange cities and their families does not know what are the actual conditions of their childrens. For the same such awareness programmes plays pivotal role and has to be organized frequently he added. The police In Charge of the Jaldaka Dawa Lepcha was also preset on the programme.
