DLSYC to place numerous demands to the Centre soon
MUKESH SHARMA
Kalimpong, September 18:
The
Darjeeling Lok Sabha Yuva Congress Committee has voiced against the decision of
the Central Government of providing 6 subsidiary household gas cylinders.
Keeping in mind the inconvenience of the people of the Darjeeling hills, the
Centre should provide 12 cylinders instead of 6, is what the Committee demanded.
Further, they mentioned that the hills are already facing gas cylinder shortage
issues and most of the people fall under BPL who are unable to afford the high
priced cylinders.
Likewise,
the Committee also demanded that the Centre should deliver needed help to the
victims of Aila and the earthquake which occurred last year.
The
President of the Committee, Anos Lepcha said that the students of the hills
belonging to poor families cannot afford to study outside, therefore, the
Committee also demands that a Central University should be established in the
hills. The process of filling up the vacant posts lying in the Government
Departments should be initiated, as it will help ease the unemployment issue to
some extent, he added.
Soon
a high level educational group will be heading towards New Delhi to keep
forward all the demands of the Committee to the Central Government, he concluded.
