The Gorkha Primary Teachers Organisation (GPTO), Kalimpong branch today organised felicitation programme for the retrired primary teachers at the Ram Krishna Rangamanch, in Kalimpong.

The function was held under the chairmanship of the GPTO Kalimpong Branch President Swaraj Gurung and the chief guest was the JPTO President Benedict Gurung along with Jigmee Sherpa and Secretary Bhusan Thapa were present as the special guests.

The function honoured eleven retired teachers of the different primary schools of the area. The day also marked with colorful cultural programmes presented by the different schools. Different speakers on the function shared their issues and suggestion pertaining to that of the peimary schools and put forward their demands to the Goveernment. They also stressed on the coordination of the Sarva Sikcha Abhiyan and that of the Zilla School Board. They expressed their sadness on the non-appointment of the new teachers in places of the retrired ones.

 Dataram Sharma delivered the welcome speech and the programme winded up with the vote of thanks from Lalit Kumar.
