No respite for rain, cracks forced families to shift shelter

Kalimpong, September 16

It was a rained out morning in Kalimpong on Sunday with the season's heaviest showers resulting in several landslides and the inevitable threats to the residents.

The residents of Kalimpong have no respite from the incessant rain from the last three days. The road which was badly damaged by the landslide at 15th Mile still is in the process of mending and the vehicles reaching Algaraha, Pedong are plying via the alternative route 11 Mile. The story of the NH31A is also the same but the hard efforts of the GREF have been helping the traffic to flow.
Likewise 10 families have been shifted to school sensing the danger of the slide at Nursery village of Kalimpong. The continuous rainfall has resulted in the decline of the temperature where today’s maximum temperature was recorded 20.4 degree celsius and the minimum to 17.9 degree celsius. Though the 4 days of rain has troubled the Kalimpong Sub Division but until now no untoward news has been reported.
