Awareness programme on social security schemes held at Lower Pudung
MUKESH SHARMA
Kalimpong,
October 7
The
Center for Cooperative Management Department has been travelling village to
village to educated the rural populace on the social security schemes and about
the bank linkage services. CB Roy, Principal for Management today imparted informations
on the issues, benefits, schemes etc with the Self Help Groups of Lower Pudung.
Rai
said that the Government frames several schemes for the benefit and the
upliftment of the poor, but the schemes before reaching the poor disappears
somewhere in between and some of them which reaches, gets blackout. The
Government of India had introduced pension schemes in 2001 but it was closed in
2004, and the people of the Hills even doesnot discern it. Likewise, in the year,
1991 NABARD had started various schemes for the SHGs but it has been 22 years since
than, it has not been properly implemented in the Hills and the tempo of the
development has been untold said Rai.
