KKKS working on zero waste management

One day training programme on ‘Master Training on Zero Waste Management in Himalayas’ was organized today at the office of Kalimpong Krishak Kalyan Sangathan (KKKS). The female farmers highlighted about the ill effects of the garbage on farming and drinking water. To this, the resource person, Aashis Rai advised the gathering to arrange garbage management in the homes itself.
The Sangathan’s Secretary, Vishnu Chettri said that along with the administration, the public is also responsible for garbage mismanagement. The KKKS in the areas where they have initiated their project have also started schemes on waste management, under which the farmers were imparted training on the same today.
Chettri said that along with training on waste management, the farmers are also provided funds for it. The KKKS is at present researching on the matter in the hills. The research report will be sent to the Centre and the Green Bench of Supreme Court.
Female farmers form Lingling, Kolbug\g, Manmaya, Lamahatta, Sillery, Relli, Upper Icchay, etc. were present.
