Kalimpong, December 21:

The final of the 3rd Cinchona Challenge Cup 2012 was played between Sinolchu Namchi (Sikkim) and Share Football Club (Kalimpong) in which the former won by 3-0 goals.

Both the teams in the first half defended each other well ending with 0-0 score till the half time. However, in the second half, Sinolchu team hovered over the home team resulting in a 3-0. The nil score was broken by Sinolchu’s Sanjay Chettri followed by 2 goals by Nim Tshering Lepcha.

Around 20 teams had participated in the event organized by Sangser Cinchona United at Mangaldhura sports ground since 20 November. The winning team received Rs 1lakh 1 thousand cash, trophy, token and certificates by the hands of the GTA Cinchona Department Sabhasad, Samuel Gurung who was the chief guest for the day. The runners-up team also received cash award of Rs 51 thousand along with trophy, token and certificates. The Director of Cinchona Plantation, Dr GC Subba was the guest of honour. The final event held under the presidentship of the organizing committee, Barood Thapa also witnessed performance by the St Mary School Band and cultural presentation by the students of Sangser Junior High School.
