The police on Friday night recovered a dead body from a house at Primtam Road. Also from the house a 17 year old girl at a moribund stage was found and was taken to the hospital.

As per the incident, a 20 year old, Nilesh Singh had taken the 17 year old Nirmala (name changed) to stay over at his friend’s house at Primtam Road on February 14.

As per the information received from the police, the dead body of Nilesh was recovered at around 7:30 p.m. from the house while the girl Nirmala, has been admitted to Kalimpong sub divisional hospital. Her condition is now stabilizing. In the meantime, the body after being sent for postmortem has been handed over to its family members.

Mandal, the friend who lent his house to the couple to stay overnight has been taken by the police for investigation. It is informed that Mandal’s parents’ were unaware of it.

As per Mandal, the couple had stayed overnight on February 14 to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Next day nobody came out from the room. Thus, after knocking the door many times, Mandal broke the door open and found the couple lying on the floor.

It is being opined that excessive intake of alcohol is the cause of Nilesh’s death. However, the police can only say the main cause after the post mortem reports are received. Also there has been no trace of alcohol in the room where the body was found.
