SUMI felicitates its zealous students

The SUMI today felicitated its students who had participated in the Mumbai Marathon and the RD Camp of the NCC. The SUMI Principal, NR Pradhan addressing the occasion expressed his happiness over the students’ participation in national and international level events. He also wished that the students will continue with their zealous activities and make the school proud. He assured of every help to the students and teachers of the SUMI.
Total 5 students of SUMI partook in the Mumbai marathon which was of international level. These students were Prabal Chettri, famously known as Kalimpong’s Marathon Boy, Ramesh Tamang, Dilip Subba, Puran rai and Sanjay Chettri. They stood 12th, 18th, 22nd, 33rd and 58th, respectively in the marathon. Total 9477 national and international runners had participated in the said marathon.
Similarly, 8th grader Prashant Subba got an opportunity to partake in the RD Camp of the NCC. He also participated in the Republic Day parade at New Delhi. Prashant also met with the Prime Minister, President and other members of the NCC.
Likewise, Anjum Tamang got an opportunity to play under the Darjeeling District Women’s Football team at the Bir Chila Roy Women’s Football Competition held at Bir Para. She became the highest scorer by putting 5 goals and finally won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ title. The final of the tournament was held on February 17.
