Darjeeling Range DIG inspects the situation in Kalimpong

In order to inspect the situation and security management in Kalimpong, the Darjeeling Range DIG, Dayamanti Sen reached Kalimpong today from Kolkata. She discussed at length the current situation of Kalimpong with Darjeeling police SP Kunal Agarwal. Informing about the meet the Darjeeling SP said that order has been issued by the state government of deploying two platoons of CRPF by Monday at Darjeeling and Kalimpong. One platoon will be deployed in Darjeeling and the one at Kalimpong. The CRPF platoons namely BRAVO-50 and ECO-66 are being sent from Midnapore, West Bengal.
The SP informed that, already two platoons of RAF and two of IRB along with state Special Forces have been deployed in the hills. He clarified that the decision of deploying the CRPF lies in the hands of the central government. “Our work is just to present the actual report and after accessing it the central government/Home Ministry gives the orders.
