Kalimpong, March 08:
The journalists of Kalimpong since long were facing problems to hold
press meets due to the lack of a proper place in the town. Nevertheless,
these hardworking journalists have come together and found a place for
themselves where they can sit together and exchange ideas apart from
holding press meets. The Kalimpong Sub Divisional Officer, LN Sherpa
inaugurated the office/ meeting room of the journalists at the Gorkha
Dukh Niwarak Sammelan (GDNS) hall, today.
Also during the occasion, the SDO handed over Rs 1 lakh 47 thousand to
Gautam Lama’s father. The amount will contribute in the medical expenses
of ailing Gautam Lama. The money was gathered by the journalists for
their fellow journalist, Gautam Lama who is undergoing treatment due to
kidney failure. The journalists were helped by St Teresa Church, Jan
Jagriti Kalyan Sangh and others to raise the funds.
The SDO in his brief address highlighted the importance of journalists
and said that journalism is a noble profession. He lauded the press
fraternity for their social activities and assured of every help
possible to them.
