Pradhan, a student of Social Work at Vidyasagar University, Kolkata today
presented Rs. 30,810 to a Thalassemia patient who is under treatment at
Kalimpong Hospital. The patient, Drishti Chettri is a five year old, a resident
of Buchri, who belongs to a necessitous family. Ujeswata has collected the
funds in a unique way by selling old newspapers, books and scrap materials. She
had collected a total of Rs. 34,810 out of which she handed away Rs. 30,810 to
Drishti and the remaining four thousand to another ailing child in the
hospital. The hospital staffs and others also helped Ujeswata in collecting the
funds. She has thanked all those individual who helped her for the same and
assure that she will once again contribute in social works during holidays when
she comes home.
Ujeswata
is a daughter of GTA Sabhasad Sunil Pradhan. The proud father while speaking to
the reporters said that, his daughter has done a noble deed on her own will
which has made him proud. It may be mentioned here that Thalassemia is a blood
disorder passed out through families in which the makes and abnormal form of
haemoglobin.
