With an aim to promote Pedong tourism and also to attract adventure loving tourists, the Mountain Adventure has initiated different adventure sports. Formed by the local youths, the Mountain Adventure group believes that Pedong can be established as a tourism hub through adventure sports.

During a formal programme held at Pedong, the GTA Tourism Department sabhasad Dawa Lepcha inaugurated the adventure tourism, today. The programme held at Rock Climbing Point premises, 20 Mile, Pedong also had the participation of adventure lovers of the area. At present the place is made as a base camp for Rock Climbing. Apart from this place adventure sports will be initiated in other places around Pedong. The Mountain Adventure group has planned to introduce Jumar Climbing, Mountain Biking and other activities related in using ropes.

Vidhan Acharya, the founder of the group is himself an expert in adventure tourism.

“We aim to promote Pedong through adventure tourism. The natural beauty and landscapes will add on to the adventure activities here”, he said.

The group also felicitated Sebastian Pradhan, tourism entrepreneur of Pedong during the programme for his contribution towards tourism industry. He received a memento from the hands of Dawa Lepcha.

Lepcha has assured of every help possible from his side to promote tourism in Pedong. He urged the group to carry forward their adventure tourism activities for which they will be delivered support from GTA.
