Poster in name of Janta at Kalimpong
Kalimpong ,29 Aug
Posters were put up in Kalimpong criticizing the use
of children in a political program by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha in
which the poster also questioned if the on going agitation was for the Morcha leader Binay Tamang or Gorkhaland? There is no evidence as to whom or which political party had stuck the
poster as it has only been signed ‘Janta’. The poster was seen at Damber Chowk at Kalimpong only to be seen torn after a while.
The first part of the poster read that Bimal Gurung was making his children study in foreign countries but was making the children of the people in the hills take part in political programs which would only make their future dark. The poster threatened ‘Beware Bimal Gurung and the other intellectuals in the hills!’ It further asks the people to rise against this so as the future of the students in the hills are bright. The poster was referring to the five day rallies and public meeting of children aged between 12 to 18 years that has been going on in different parts of the hills from August 27th.
The poster in its second half also states that Bimal Gurung stayed quiet while the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration members from Kurseong and Kalimpong were arrested but only broke his silence when
the GTA member Binay Tamang was arrested due to which an indefinite bandh had been called in the hills. The poster questioned Bimal Gurung as to what kind of activity was this and as to what and why the
agitation and the on going bandh were taking place. Questioning Gurung the poster further asks as to whether all this was being done for the demand of Gorkhaland or for Binay Tamang.
