Clinic vandalised after patient death
Kalimpong,22nd Sept
A
private clinic in Kalimpong belonging to a doctor was vandalized this
afternoon after the death of a patient by the relatives of the deceased.
It was learnt that the clinic owned by a famous Kalimpong based physician and child specialist Dr. S
Ali’s situated at the Super Market in Kalimpong town was reportedly
ransacked by angry family members of a patient Ram Tamang, (63), who
allegedly had died due to the negligence of the doctor. It has been
alleged that Dr. Ali failed to visit the patient on the given time and
hence the demise.
A
family member of the deceased said that we had visited the doctor’s
chamber in the morning and registered the patient’s name and waited for
Dr. Ali’s arrival. He was supposed to visit his clinic which is usually
around 10am but today he did not reach his clinic on time and even after
that. Meanwhile, the condition of our patient deteriorated and finally
died in the clinic itself due to lack of any attendance or emergency
medical check-ups by the doctor.
As
per the relative of the deceased, for the past several days the
deceased had been suffering from viral fever. Meanwhile, they had
consulted several medical practitioners in Kalimpong but there was no
positive improvement on his health. Finally, today they had visited the
clinic of Dr. S Ali for medical check up but unfortunately after a long
wait for the doctor who didn’t turn up, he suddenly vomited blood and
died even before any check ups could be done on him.
Total police authority reached the spot and took control of the situation and sent the body for post Morten
Talking
to the reporters in Kalimpong, Dr. S Ali said that everyone knows that
we have to visit different hospitals in Kalimpong. And if there is any
emergency in the hospital, than delays can always happen.
“If
the patient was in such a delirious condition why didn’t the relatives
of the patient bring him to the emergency ward of the Kalimpong Sub
Divisional Hospital?” People questioned.
