CM felicated with King Choom Darmit Award

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was crowned with ‘Kingchoom Dramit’ title by the Indigenous Tribal Lepcha Association (ITLA) today among a ten thousand lepcha gathered in the Mela Ground. The title which means Goddess of Fortune was given on the occasion of a felicitation programme organised by the ILTA to express their gratitude on the formation of the Mayel Lyang Lepcha Development Board (MLLDB)
Starting her speech with Kambri and Acculey She announced Rs 50 crore for the Mayel Lyang Lepcha Development Board (MLLDB) . In addition she announce that 2 crore for handicraft but in the first phase 10 Lakhs for handicraft for womens ,another 10 lakhs for a community centre with library facilities ,25 lakhs for lepcha cultural and heritage centre and assured that from the next academic session lepcha language will be introduced in the government primary centre . She also said that 1000 houses of 2 lakhs sum will be built in the hills and 5,000 unemployed youth will be given preference in the police duty. She also said that yesterday she met some of the youth from Tamang community who came with a proposal, i have assured them that if they are interested for development work then we are ready.
