One construction worker was killed and another escaped with minor injuries when the slabs of an under construction house and a portion of the adjoining road caved in near the Central School for Tibetans at 11 Mile collapse in Kalimpong at around 3 p.m today .The dead has been identified as Ritesh Chhetri, 32, of Newar Gaon in Bada Bhalukhop village very near to the town. Police said the cave in could have occurred because of heavy overnight rain.Kalimpong received heavy rain last night.  “The body has been sent to the sub-division hospital, Kalimpong for post-mortem,” said a police source.
