BSA forms Unique Children’s Club in North Pabak

Bal Suraksha Abhiyan Trust (BSA) today formed a new club for children from the remote village under Kagay Gram Panchayat.
BSA had first taken the initiative to form a club at Maria Children’s Club where around 30 children a member of this group. Through this Maria Children’s Club initiative, BSA was invited at North Pabak  under Kagay Gram Panchayat to form a club for the children.
Today, through proper election process similar to that of Adult Voting system, 35 children from the age group of 6 – 15 year old took part in the election process. 12 Children had filed their names for nomination. Out of these 12 children, other children elected their governing body members. At the end of the election, Tez Kumar thapa child release officer of BSA declared the results.
 Ms. Shiwani Rai won the seat for President . Others members who were elected for the various posts were Ms.Salomi Rai  as Secretary; Master.Abhisekh Subba as Treasurer; Master Susan Subba as the Vice President; Ms. Nehara subba ,Prabachan Diwan,Arpan Subba as the members of the Executive Body. Children named the club as “Unique Children’s Club”.
The election was held at the village SSK school North Pabak under Kagay Gram Panchayat.
Over the past 3 years, BSA has been forming clubs all over the sub-division. Such club are forum for children where they can express their opinions about any issues or concerns related to child rights and collectively try to find problems to their solutions. It aims at operationalizing the child’s right to participation.
These clubs will works on the basis of its elected governing body. In their meetings, children raise social as well as developmental issues about their village and seek solutions in liaison with the community as well as with the panchayat body / concerned block department. These issues include better infrastructure for schools, demand for setting up of ICDS centres, etc. Such clubs will emerge as an effective medium for empowering children by involving them about their welfare and other matters.
By involving children in such clubs it will help to build potential leader cadres who can take responsibility of looking after their village informed Thapa.
