Jan Awaaz – an apolitical body has reiterated that nothing other than ‘Gorkhaland’ will fulfill the aspiration of the hill people and that to achieve the same people of the hills should reject the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) immediately. Today in a press conference at kalimpong Jan Awaz General Secretary Munish Tamang launched the Jan Manifesto which contain 19 program related to Darjeeling and Duars region. Jan Awaz which on the last week of March Jan Awaaz has sent each candidate to clearly and unequivocally state their stand on creation of Gorkhaland and rejection of GTA today made it clear that no one could give a vivid answer on question laid.
Tamang today claimed that it has raised these questions on behalf of the people and it is the people who seek answers to these questions.We met personally three candidate on this issue one of Congress , BJP and independent candidate Mahendra P lama to clear their stand on this issue but we could not get a answer we were searching for said Tamang.
He said that without scrapping GTA the issue of Gorkhaland cannot be taken forward . Its unfortunate that no party in their manifesto have taken the issue of scrapping of GTA.
The Jan Manifesto have the issue of Gorkhaland in top and Rejection and scrapping of GTA in second. Apart the organisation have taken the issue of land rights for people working and living in tea gardens and cinchona plantation in both hills and plains. Centrally monitored Special Financial packages for  welfare of Tea garden worker and Darjeeling Himalayan Railways. Establishment of Film City in Darjeeling to tap the interest of Bollywood and kollywood , IT park for employment opportunities, Technical and Medical institutes for students, Establishment of Horticulture University and Research Institution, National sports institution , UPSC center in Darjeeling, primary centers for every 20000 people and a sub center for 3000 people, Anti Human trafficking force lasting solution of perennial drinking water etc are included in the Manifesto.
Tamang said that who ever candidate included and carry this Manifesto Jan Awaz will support that candidate.
He said that the organisation will work on this manifesto after the elections.
