A mass awareness programme on Child Protection , Child Labour and Child Rights was organized today by Bal Suraksha Abhiyan Trust jointly with the10th Battalion of SSB, Block Office Gorubathan ,Children Clubs,Schools,CBOs and SHGs of Jholung & Gairibas in Daeorali Rangshala (Community Hall) in Jholung .
The main purpose of the programme was to create awareness among the mass on subjects like protection of children, child rights andchild labour. Bal Suraksha Abhiyan has lately started their intervention initiative at Patak Godak and Rongu Gram Panchayat as the area according to a secret survey conducted by the BSA has been recognized as places which are prone to child labour. Around 300 student from Sprindale School, St Joseph Paren and Garibas High School and 100 other participants from SHG,school teachers etc took part in today's programme. Although a rally was scheduled to be taken out from Hospital dara to Jholung Community Hall, it had to be called off due to heavy downpour that splashed the area.
Various presentations about UNCRC, Community Based Child Protection System and Child Labour was given by Tej Kumar Thapa(Child Release Officer) of BSA. Documentaries were also shown to the participants which highlighted the ways of protecting children from various forms of delinquencies. A poem titled “Prashna cha”? questioning the lack of emphasis on protection of child rights was also recited byPushkar Gurung, a student of Gairibas High School.
