A man attacked a couple at night around 10:30 pm on Saturday at their residence, RungDung, MongPong 45 kilometer from Kalimpong . The duo named as Kumar Rai, 55 and his wife Aiti Maya Rai, 50 were brutally assaulted with a sharp knife like weapon but managed to sustain the multiple injuries that night. They were immediately shifted to Anandalok neuroscience center Siliguri from Mal Government hospital. However Kumar Rai was succumbed to his injuries but his wife Aiti Rai escaped from the life threatening attack. On the basis of the complaint of Aiti Rai a case was recorded yesterday at Kalimpong police station, under section 326/302 IPC against Prem Pradhan A neighbor who was initially proclaimed for repeatedly stabbing and butchering the couple, he now has been arrested by the police. The murderer also confessed to the police that he broke in Rai’s residence with a plan to kill Kumar Rai’s son Kiran Rai for the personal enmity they had between them but ended up killing his father which was unintended.
