Formal interview for regularization soon , says Gurung

Nisha Chettri
Kalimpong, May 15th, 2015:

After the High Court’s order to regularize the contract workers, Bimal Gurung, who has been here since last 5 days said that a formal interview will be held in each department in order to regularize them.

‘Along with our goal we had responsibilities of those workers which made us keep constant touch with the government, as a result the court has now presented the order in a positive way and we respect that’ said Gurung while he left Kalimpong court today.

Gurung was here to attend the date of two cases in connection with sipchu case which resulted in violence and death of two people and blocking the national Highway by the GJM activists in 2011. When the consideration charge was read in the ACJM court, he proclaimed to be innocient and claimed for a trial, however the next date for both bailed cases are scheduled on 5th June and 10th June respectively, informed Rajeev Parajulee, Gurung’s Lawyer.

Gurung later mentioned his worry about the scene of unemployment in the hills which he wishes to wash off by arranging interviews within August to fill  600-700 vacancies that are lying in the primary schools.

We had once promised the high school teachers to regularize them and we were successful to employ around 450 teachers, similarly we provided employment to 630 people (instead of 120) in primary schools and in the same way we had promised the contract workers to regularize them which is now successful, said Gurung.

Meanwhile, he was getting ready to visit the Municipality waste dumping ground where the bio gas plant is embedded, ‘since big gas-trucks will be plying in the road, I want to check the place thoroughly and think what can be done’ added the Chief before he left.
