A first kind of new formula to collect
door to door waste collection by Kalimpong Municipality reaches its first
anniversary today. The Formula to collect door to door waste started on 1st Aug
2014 with the help of Prayash Hi Rise enterprise, a company working in field of
solid management in the form of PPP module first started in 13 ward which
mostly cover town area has now spread to 17 ward in a year time. Terming the
formula a great success Ganga Maya Gurung the chairman of Kalimpong
Municipality addressing a press meet today said the dream of solid waste
management by the board has been full filled. She added that no municipality in
hills has done such work in SWM as Kalimpong which has also built a Bio Gas
Plant to terminate waste of the town at Bhalukhop. The Project was started to
overcome the most and urgent problem of the town , after a year we think we
have succeeded , even if our board term finishes it will the work of
Municipality SMW officers to take it further added Gurung. She appealed
for full mass cooperation which is still absence. A home is charged Rs. 100
while a shop depending upon its size is charged Rs. 150-250. The work of
Kalimpong Municipality has been hailed by State informed Gurung. Meanwhile Zion
Lepcha VC of Kalimpong Municipality has appeal for full help from the local
