The River rafting Rescue group which is functioning since last 20 years in River Tista most crucial accident or any rescue work have started all the rescue from today. The Decision came after a Compensation Committee was formed on Tuesday. A meeting was called up at Darjeeling DM office on Tuesday which was attended by DM ,NHPC, Effected Rafting member, and Dr Harkha Bahadur Chhetri MLA Kalimpong regarding the compensation row.

Rafting Tista is in a verge to shut down after  the construction of teesta low dam hydel project stage 3 and more dam to be built in future as announce by CM during her Visit in Kalimpong last year.

Recently the member approached MLA Dr Chhetri after which the matter was pursued to DM Darjeeling a few week ago. Yesterday again the meeting was called after which the decision to form a compensation Committee was formed which consist ADM, 2 official form NHPC,2 from effected rafting association, MLA Kalimpong and A member of Civil Society where Dr M.P.Lama is supposed to represent.

Suraj Chhetri,press and publicity of Teesta Rangit River rafting welfare association told" We are satisfied that at last a Compensation committee has been formed by which it have to submit all its reports till Jan 15th 2016. From today till JAN 15 we we restore to rescue work"

He informed that about 300 people have been getting meal through rafting
