JAP to now demand hill panchayat elections

Jana Andolan Party have decided to turn its attention on demanding of holding Panchayat Election in Hills for which the party will start its program from 26th April.
A meeting of JAP was held in its party office where party secretary Nayan Pradhan,  Bureau members Yusuf Simick , Navraj Gurung ,Nordhen Lama , Vishal Rai From Youth and block representative were present.
JAP party secretary Nayan Pradhan after the meeting informed that he lack of panchayats has affected many areas, especially the rural sector where overall development and benefits through panchayat system are yet to reach.

Elections to Panchayat have not been held in the GTA and earlier DGHC region since 2000.
Perhaps Darjeeling is the only region in India, which has been deprived of the most basic governance structure – Panchayats.
Over 112 Gram Panchayts have severe shortage of staff in the region, and due to the lack of elected members the villagers have been deprived of various government run facilities and schemes he added.
He attack the GTA too saying one of the example of its failure is that it has not been able to conduct three tier election which is mention in GTA pact. We will work for what we mention in our manifesto and complete it
We did not come for election he said, We will work on all points which we mention in our election manifesto he added.
The JAP have called for a all party meet on Saturday to chalk out more ideas for this program he informed.
Vishal Rai, Youth Coordinator of JAP informed that for holding two tier panchayat election  the party will submit memorandum first at Panchayat Level from Tuesday.Then to Block, Sub division,District ,Principal Secretary GTA and Rural Develpment Ministry he added
