About 62 members of Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha(GJMM) backed by Janmukti Insecure Secondary teachers organisation (JISTO) today, tendered their resignation to GJMM chief Bimal Gurung after a meeting held today at Thakurbari.

After the meeting the house decided to form an independent body which will take the demand of regularisation in different forum. For this the body formed an independent organisation named Hills Secondary Temporary Teachers Organisation( HSTTO) .

“The HSTTO is formed with one demand of regularisation. We will act as a independent forum but whichever party comes to help,we will welcome them,” informed Mr Roshan Chhetri, who was the first to resign from JISTO recently.

Mr Sagar Rai a central committee member of JISTO from Rangli Ranglet zone Darjeeling showing his resignation said: “We were a frontal organisation of GJM. We helped the party in all its activities. Our JISTO movement committee was doing the program for regularisation but GJMM dissolved the committee.”They had full faith on them but GTA could not solve their problem.

On 5 July,Mr Roshan Giri had met state education minister Partha Chatterjee and demanded that an ad hoc selection board be formed to make 519 voluntary teachers permanent. Chatterjee after the meet had said there were several part-time (voluntary) teachers who did not fulfill the eligibility criteria recommended by the National Council for Teacher Education (the apex body that regulates teachers’education in the country). He said the government would consider absorbing the teachers with required qualifications.

The JISTO expressed their displeasure over Mr Giri's inability to solve the problem. The decision of dissolving the committee has shown its reaction as the temporary teachers started resigning from their organisation and party too.
He informed that a 10 member working committee has been formed today which will guide the newly formed organisation.
