Monsoon Strike Innova plunges into tista , 3 fear dead

A Siliguri to Sikkim bound Innova Crysta vehicle bearing no WB73 E 2940 this afternoon met with an accident near coronation bridge NH 10 and plunged into Tista missing two passenger and a driver . The Vehicle of Himalayan Travel said to have pick up a couple from Rajasthan from Bagdogra . Rakesh Rai of Bhanu nagar Siliguri was driving the ill fated vehicle which feel down about 150 ft from the road straight to Tista and disappear in a while . The drivers who have seen the accident informed the Sevoke Police which called NDRF team and rafting team from tista for search operation .The vehicle which went inside Teesta river and was swept away in the river's drift. At the time of the incident there was a long caravan of vehicles from both sides.
The stretch to coronation have been very slippery as mud and water from upper area is coming in the NH. The vehicle driver lost controlled in the sharp turning and plunged directly into the river . The accident zone comes under Sevoke Police Post under Kurseong sub division. SDPO Pinaki Dutta informed that the preliminary information received was the the driver was travelling with two passenger from Rajasthan to Gangtok . He said all rescue operation to traced the missing and vehicle is under way.
The last 5 days of continuous rain in Hills have raised the water level of Teesta due to which it is unlikely that the possibility of survival of all three is possible.
