Municipality irresponsible regarding IHSDP scheme- Sundas

A
surprising issue has come in the limelight regarding the IHSDP scheme of the
Municipality under which the houses for the BPL families are constructed. It
has come under notice that a resident of Ward No 12, Rahul Chettri’s house has
been constructed but only in the papers. Whereas, in real no such houses has
been constructed in his name. Chettri’s house located near Mission Compound,
Dhobi Dhara was dismantled in July last year after which he was told that a new
house shall be constructed under the said scheme. According to the scheme, the
beneficiaries need to deposit Rs 20, 000/- at the Municipality office.
Chettri,
who is presently residing temporarily in a small room which he got with the
help of doctors and nurses of the Kalimpong Hospital, was taken aback when he
got a notice from the Municipality stating that he needs to deposit the said
amount.
Speaking
on this regard, the CPIM leader, Tara Sundas informed that Chettri’s name is
registered in the list of the beneficiaries and it further states that the
house has been made. Therefore, Sundas questioned that why the house is not
been made till date? “Can’t the Municipality find a small vacant place to
construct a house for Chettri?” enquired Sundas. Further, he cautioned that the
CPIM shall take action against such irresponsible activities. Hence, he
demanded that the Municipality to construct a house for Chettri as soon as
possible. Lastly, he claimed that he can even show few vacant places to the
Municipality if they do not have any.
