NBSTC starts Siliguri-Delo bus service

North  Bengal State Transport Corporation(NBSTC)  has started Siliguri-Delo  bus  service via  Kalimpong  for  which 30-seater  bus  has  been pressed  into  service.  The bus  will  leave  NBSTC
Siliguri depot at 6.30 am,reach  Kalimpong   at around  9  am  and  halt  for half-an-hour  at  the  motor stand  before  heading  to Delo.   

Local   passengers will  be  charged  a  fare  of Rs.  10  from  the  motorstand to Delo.  Many stu-
dents from Jalpaiguri  Engineering College were seen  taking  the  Siliguri-Delo   service   inaugural bus run. A passenger from Siliguri  who  every Sunday   visits   the   Dr.Graham’s  Homes  School which  is  located  on  theway to Delo today said, “I am     thankful     to     the NBSTC  for  starting  this bus service. Earlier, I had to  pay  around  Rs.  200  as local  taxi  fare  from  the motor     stand     to    Dr.Graham’s  Homes  School but  today  I  reached  the school paying a total fare of  Rs.  105  from  Siliguri!This  bus  service  saved both  my  fare  and  time”.

Many  local   passengers  were  also  seen  taking  the bus midway from Delo to the    motor    stand    and appeared  jubilant  stating that  they  had  to  pay  only a  bus  fare  of  Rs.  10  as compared  to  Rs.  30  in local taxi.

12 year old pregnant ,53 year old arrested .

A 53 old man was arrested by Kalimpong Police in connection with a POCSO act. 


A written complaint from one mother from Kalimpong block one was filed at Kalimpong PS that her daughter mina  (12) name changed was complaining about her stomach pain.

Later it was known that she was pregnant. The family asked about the case to the daughter and she disclosed that she had been raped by her neighbor Basant Lamgadey. The girl has been sent  for medical  examination.

Police arrested the accused Basant from his house and was bought to Kalimpong Police station . He has been booked under POCSO case and will be forward today .

Man electrocuted in Kalimpong



Kalimpong, 3rd June

A 37-year old man was electrocuted on Friday  at around 11 am today at Bong busti Kalimpong while repairing a line which was off from yesterday in the area  .The deceased was identified as Sajan Chettri, a resident of garigaw ,lowerbong busty .

The deceased reportedly fell over a pole after getting  electrocuted shock . He died on the spot according to locals , later he was rushed to kalimpong hospital where he was declared bought dead. His body after post mortem was submitted to his relatives.

Widow seeks justice over husband's murder

The widow of Chandan Pradhan whose dead body was found on 30th December at sevoke is asking for justice over the death of her husband.

Chandan Pradhan a contractor by profession was travelling with two of his friend Deepak Agarwal and Prem Puniya on the day of incident.

His body was recovered from a 300ft gorge near Coronation Bridge on NH31 in Kalimpong on 30th December. He was returning back to home with his two friends but it was said they were engaged in some scuffle with some bikers but later police arrested both of his friend on suspicion.

Today the widow with Reeseka Chhetri , National Secretary of International Human Rights and crime control organization meet Kalimpong SP Ajeet Singh Yadav seeking justice.

After the meeting addressing a press meet widow Bijeta Chhetri Pradhan crying said “ My husband was brutally killed by Deepak Agarwal and Prem Puniya she alleged. They were arrested but within a month they were out on bail and are roaming openly. From last five month we are seeking for justice. We had only one male member who was hacked to death. My 10 years old daughter is always crying remembering her dad.He said Prem Puniya called him on 28th December he stay at siliguri that night and on 29th December evening he said he was returning but he never returned.

She added that we being alone done not went to any political party as we had belief that we will get justice. We visited Darjeeling SP who gave us a three month time but later Kalimpong being a district SP said it will be seen by new district.

Reseeka Chhetri National Secretary of International Human Rights and crime control organization said a case came yesterday at our office. Bijeta informed about her case and seeking all the detail we today met SP Kalimpong who has assured us give justice in a month time. She said we will be moving to Kolkataa High court for cancelation of bail plea soon.

Kalimpong girl selected for Women Asian Cup qualifiers in women’s national team

Here’s a good news for Kalimpong football lovers! Kalimpong’s Anju Tamang has been selected in the 23 players for the Indian Women’s National Team for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers, slated to kick-off from 3 April, 2017 in DPR Korea, after a preparatory Camp took place in Goa from 1 March, 2017 and is scheduled to conclude till 30 March, 2017.


Anju Tamang (22) born in Birpara have finished her Madhyamik form Algarah

Higher secondary school from where she had represented her school many times. Tamang was seen playing football from class 6 with boys as she was passionate about the game .


She joined SUMI school for her Higher Secondary. The school has a name in football which students have played in many national level games.Here Tamang met school football coach Prasant Pradhan who too gave her training alongside the school boy’s team.


Anju, after finshing her schooling played in Delhi league in 2013 and Kolkatta

league in 2014. She tirelessly worked to be selected for National team but her dream came true yesterday when she got a call from AIFF. Anju got a platform during the last year when she played for Orissa Rising student team which ended as the runners up in the first ever edition of IWL.She got selected for the SAARC football camp held at Siliguri on January but was not selected which made her disheartened. Prasant Pradhan, her ex coach said:“After she was dropped,she was dishearten but she was determined that she will be selected in the National team.And then she called me up yesterday to inform about her selection.”


Anju Tamang said:“This is a very proud moment for me. I am very happy.”


Anju plays in forward position and her best women player is Marta, from Brazil women’s team and Neymar from Brazil’s National team.


India has been drawn in Group B alongside hosts DPR Korea,Korea Republic, Hong Kong and Uzbekistan. The Indian Women will clash swords against hosts DPR Korea in their first match of the qualifying campaign on 3 April before facing Korea Republic on 5 April,Uzbekistan,and Hong Kong on 7 April and 11 April respectively.
