Kalimpong public approach Gurung with their grievances
MUKESH SHARMA
Kalimpong, August 30:
The GTA executive
chief, Bimal Gurung today met with the public and talked about their grievances
at the Tourist Lodge, Delo. People from different areas approached Gurung with
their issues to which he reciprocated and directed all the GTA councilors to
look into the public’s matter.
The day also saw all
the GJM sub branches putting forward their issues and demands to their chief.
Under this, the student morcha demanded of an establishment of a central
university in the hills. To this Gurung asked them to consult the Kalimpong MLA
cum GJM spokesperson, Dr Harka Bahadur Chettri and told them that they have
been thinking about it. Likewise, the Hotel & Restaurant Association
insisted on construction of a ropeway from Delo to Relli River, construction of
a large railway station at Sevoke and construction of a museum which will house
the items related to the culture and tradition of all the communities residing
in the hills. Further, they also complained that the schedule of the Shatabdi
train which travels to and forth NJP- Howrah is inconvenient for the people of
the hills. Hence, they appealed Gurung to take the issue to the Railway
Ministry and revise its timings. Regarding the same Gurung asked them to
consult Dr Chettri.
