Kalimpong, August 30:
After being allotted with the Health & Birth Registration Department, the GTA councilor, Asha Gurung is on her series of hospitals and Primary Health Centres (PHC) visits. After he visit to the Kalimpong, Algarah and Pedong hospitals few days earlier, Gurung today visited the Rambi Basic PHC situated at the NH 31A.
The 30 bedded Rambi BPHC constructed few years ago has been facing numerous issues which needs to be seriously looked upon. Hence, the BMOH Dr CK Chettri making a list of the issues highlighted them on behalf of the BPHC to Gurung and the concerned departmental Secretary, PT Sherpa. After taking a round of the BPHC and interacting with the patients, addressed the office bearers of the GJM Rambi branch at the meeting hall of the hospital during which she was handed over 7 point memorandum by them. It was observed that there have been no developments in the hospital’s condition though it plays an imperative role to the people in and around Rambi and especially to the NH31A accident victims. There has been no increase in the number of the doctors, nurses, janitors and other needed staffs within these years. It was also seen that the hospitals lacks of a special doctor and nobody has been deployed for the vacant post. The hospital also lacks of technical materials and those available cannot be functioned as the electricity supply falls short of 3 phase. The hospital also faces other issues such as drinking water and safety/ protection wall.
The party workers appealed Gurung to give preference to the locals while employing people for the vacant posts. After hearing and being face to face with all the issues pertaining to the BPHC Gurung assured that necessary steps will be taken. The faction of the party workers comprised of Rambi GJM branch president, MB Singh, Secretary Dhurba Rai, Rajen Mukhia, Yuva Morcha president Jiten Chettri, Secretary Sagar Hingmang, Naari Morcha president, Manjita Pradhan and other members.
