KKS submits memorandum to DM and ADM, highlights various glitches under MGNREGA

Kalimpong,
August 16:
The
Kalimpong Krishak Kalyan Sangathan (KKS) demanding a legal recognition of the
schemes under the MGNREGA today submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate,
Dr Soumitra Mohan and ADM, Pranita Sewa. The 3 member KKS faction under the
leadership of its Secretary, Vishnu Chettri in their memorandum have alleged
the Panchayat and the Block Development offices under the MGNREGA schemes of
violating the law, despite of the directions laid by the State Government to
the Panchayat to keep in mind the development of the farmers and provision of
benefits to the small scale farmers.
The
KKS has further complained that though various schemes are initiated and meetings
have been conducted in the Panchayat level regarding the same, still till date,
no such schemes have started. Also 60% of the rural families are deprived of a
job card in spite of the 100 days employment scheme of the MGNREGA. The KKS
further, complain that 92% farmers of the hills are not provided the benefits
which the Indian Government had announced in the year 2008. The dozer mission
is banned under MGNREGA but in most of the area of the hills the mission is
still under use.
Lastly,
the KKS has cautioned that if these issues are not solved within the next 15
days then the Sangathan will be compelled to approach the Court.
