Kalimpong, September

With an aim to earn
back the respect of the artists of Kalimpong alongside to exhibit their
artistic creativity, the Kalimpong Art Gallery witnessed its inauguration today
by the hands of the former Forest Minister, Government of Sikkim, Thukchuk
Lachungpa. The inaugural function held at the Art Gallery situated at Upper
Court Road also had the presence of advocate Anmol Prasad, Natya Bhusan CK
Sreshtha, litterateur Samsher Ali, office bearers of 27 Mt. Division, members
of various organizations, school heads, students and other dignitaries.
Chief guest Lachungpa
in his address said that through art one can create a world without boundaries.
Now since the Art Gallery has been established, it should be well taken care
of, otherwise, it too will deplete with time just like the Nepali language.
Every individual knows that though after the recognition of Nepali language, it
still has not reached where it is supposed to be. Extending help from his side,
he said that he will be exhibiting few of his self made paintings in the
gallery.
Advocate Prasad in his turn
said that during the past 20 years the condition of the artists has been
degrading. But lately, there has been a change in which the artists are again
rising back. Speaking about art, he said that art expresses beauty and the artists
through their creations portray the condition of the society, its positive and
negative sides. Likewise, CK Sreshtha also congratulated the artists for the
new gallery.
