The Annual General Meeting of the Gorkha Primary Teachers’ Organization (GPTO) was held at the Gorkha Dukh Niwarak Sammelan (GDNS) hall, today under the presidentship of GPTO President, Swaraj

Gurung. The Kalimpong GPTO Secretary, Dataram Sharma presented the annual report. Swaraj Gurung in his address said that there is need to strengthen the quality of the primary teachers in the hills. And this

can only be possible if there is development on the educational sector. The District Education Council should concentrate more on this matter, he stressed. Gurung also insisted that books should be delivered to the primary schools on time. Lastly, he also informed that the GPTO has been trying to initiate free and compulsory education in the hills.
