Keeping in mind the worries of the consumers regarding the high electricity bills the Gorkha Dukh Niwarak Sammelan and Kalimpong Sangrakshan Samiti today organized an awareness programme titled “Parisewa Mela” informing the consumers of various schemes and options laid for them.
Speaking about the high amounted bills, the Divisional Manager, Somnath Roy
clarified that the customers are facing such issues due to the change in the bill delivery system. Adding that the said issued has risen after the Gorkhaland agitation, he mentioned that the bills are coming in huge amounts as expected rate of the bills since past 4years have increased. Further he also appealed the consumers not to think that they are being sent the pending bills of the past 4 years and also added that if any household receive large amount of bills, then it is advised that they should consult the Department.
On the other hand, the AE, P Sherpa informed that under the direction of the regional party the bills after August 01, 2011 are being sent to the consumers. He also notified that the distribution of the bills and meter reading works are given to an agency named Humane Cooperative Credit Society.
However, the Director of the agency, Srijana Tamang complained that most issues are arising due to the mis information of the addresses.
