The 106 families having nil source of income were distributed chicks of high quality from the Animal Husbandry Development Department today. These families were from Dr Graham Homes Gram Panchayat, Dungra, Pudung, Sindebong and Upper Icchey Gram Panchayat. Along with the chicks they also received feeding bowls for the chicks. After few days the families will also be getting Rs 500 cash each for constructing a chicken coop. Also during the day a workshop was held for these families where they were taught on how to rear chickens. These chicks after they grow will help the families earn a living, said the Block Animal Husbandry Officer, Z Bhutia. GTA Sabhasad, Nima Tamang and Veterinary Officer, Devendra Pradhan were also present.
