No mention of Darjeeling Dist. in Primary teacher employment notice, complains Sundas
MUKESH SHARMA
Kalimpong, November 08:
The employment notice
for recruitment of 34, 559 Primary school teachers was issued lately in the
newspapers where the number of posts was mentioned only for the 18 districts of
the state excluding Darjeeling hills. There, Siliguri was mentioned as a
different district. Thus, the CPM leader, Tara Sundas, today slamming the
notification questioned that are there no unemployed in the hills. There are
774 Primary schools in the hills out of which 17 schools do not have any
teachers. While 274 schools are run by only one teacher and 230 schools are
dependent on 2 teachers. But still there is no mention of the hills in the
notice, he complained. Sundas also alleged the Trinamool government of
differentiating the hills from rest of the district.
Further, mentioning
about the meeting between the state’s Education Minister, GPTO and DGHC
administrator in presence of the MLAs of the hills, Sundas enquired that why
has the report of the meet being hidden. Hence, he demanded the report to be
produced.
As per government’s
rule, 5 teachers in one Primary school is a must, but at present around 4000
teacher posts are vacant. Sundas notified that in the past 25 years, 310
teachers have been recruited in the hills, while in other 17 districts, 1 lakh
32 thousand teachers have been deployed.
