Kalimpong, Dec 14:
The Gorkhaland Task Force (GTF) has decided to pass a resolution for a separate state of Gorkhaland during the last day of the third annual conference of Bharatiya Gorkha Parishang (BGP) at Siliguri on December19. GTF National Coordinator R Moktan today said the resolution will be passed in the presence of representatives of 22 state
BGP units along with the GTF functionaries. BGP is the prime constituent of the Task Force. Moktan said former Sikkim University VC Prof. Mahendra P. Lama and former Sikkim CM Nar
Bahadur Bhandari will also attend the conference.‘The central leadership has developed misconceptions of the demand and our resolution will aim to convince them. We want to do away with the
perception that the GTA is the ultimate solution of the Gorkhaland issue’, added Moktan. He also criticized the centre’s keenness to merger Darjeeling hills with the state of Sikkim. ‘Merger is a false publicity to divert attention of separate state movement’ he said. He also slammed Hill Congress leaders for propping up the Union
Territory issue while the central party reportedly advocated merger.
