Four child laborers rescued

Four child laborers were rescued by the Bal Suraksha Abhiyan (BSA) and Child Line, NGOs of Kalimpong. They had conducted raids at the hotels of 29th Mile along NH 31A today. Acting on a source information received on the helpline, the workers of BSA and Child Line conducted the operation with the help of a Police team from Riyang Police Post, Rambi. Along with the hotels, the shops at the area were also searched.
The rescued children fall under the age group of 10-13 and are mostly from Dooars and other outside areas. These children were brought by assuring that they will be given proper education for the domestic help they provide. However, the children informed that they were not being sent to school and instead they have been treated very badly. Also a child labour was handed over to the search team by the Riyang Police Post. The child had escaped her owners and was heading towards home. The children will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee as per the governmental rules. The search team comprised of Tej Kumar Thapa of BSA along with its workers and the workers of the Child Line,
