Hills remain unaffected by all India strike
Kalimpong, February 20:
The first day of the 48 hours all India strike called on by the All India Central Trade Unions and Federations did not affect the hills at a large extent. The day went normal as usual. However, the nationalized Banks and its ATMs remained closed, which created problems especially for the tourists who had come to the hills.
Few days back, the trade unions of CPM, Gorkha League and Congress had appealed all to favour the strike. But on Tuesday, the Darjeeling Terai- Dooars Plantation Labours Union had declared that the strike is not supported.
