Kalimpong, March 08:
The Gorkhaland Task Force’s (GTF) series of meetings with the Chief Ministers of different states is underway. After having met with the Gujarat CM, Narendra Modi, the GTF faction today met with Prithiviraj Chauhan, CM of Malabar Hills Mumbai. They at length described about the 107 years long Gorkhaland demand. The GTF representatives also notified Chauhan about the assurances that they have received from the CMs of other states over supporting the Gorkhaland demand. They underlined that people of the hills face racial discrimination in their own state as the language, culture, history, tradition, etc does not match with the West Bengal state. They said that the Gorkhas are alleged of being foreigners in their own country. Thus, a separate state is a must for the identity and security of this community, they added. The GTF leaders sought support and help form Chauhan over the same. Reciprocating to their talks, the CM assured of every help possible from him and his party.
