National Chairman of Bhartiya Gorkha Parisangh Rev Dr.Enos Das Pradhan has today alleged that the centre and state government is playing a divide and rule policy in darjeeling hills on the basis of religion.In this pretext he added that The DM or SDO or BDO office is not issuing Gorkha Certificate to the gorkhas who follow christian religion .He added that earlier the hills lepcha community was denied the same after which the state government played a game to create a differences between the two community who lived as a branches of a same tree.Further he said that denying a certificate just in terms of religion in this country is not good. India is a secular country but this type of move to divide a community on the basis of religion can be dangerous he added .Meanwhile when asked to kalimpong SDO office about this issue Kalimpong DMDC has denied that his office grants Gorkha certificate not on basis of religion but on the basis of caste.
