Pitching a fresh demand for Tribal status for the Rai's, members of the community today launched a relay hunger strike at Trikone Park here to press for their demand. A total of 9 Rai community members began the hunger strike under the Khambu Rights Movement (KRM). They have demanded Rai to be accorded Tribal status for overall development and upliftment of the community residing in Darjeeling hills. KRM spokesperson Sandeep Kulung told that the strike will continue until their demands are fulfilled.
