Pitching for their demand for Tribal status for the Rai's, members of the community who launched a relay hunger strike at Trikone Park on saturday entered the third day today. A total of 9 Rai community members are daily particapting in the the hunger strike under the Khambu Rights Movement (KRM).
Yesterday the independent Candidate Dr. Mahendra P lama visited the place and have given his support to the movement.Meanwhile today the Member of Hill Trinamul Congress visited the place and have shown moral support to the demand of the community.
TMC hill secretary Pravin Rahapal today said that we support the movement and demand Central Government to look into the matter immediately.
Sonam T Bhutia sec of the bhutia welfare joint action forum too visited the place and offered khadas to ansankaris.
Manwhile the Umbrella organisation of  Rai i,e central committee of Kirati Khambu Rai Sanskritik Sanstha today decided to gave their full support to the movement . A meeting of the organisation today took palce at jaganth dharmasala which discussed about the activities and demand of Khambu.After the meeting the central spokesman of organisation Bishal Rai told the we support the program and have full faith in it
We demand  Rai to be accorded Tribal status for overall development and upliftment of the community residing in Darjeeling hills.
The meeting has taken a resolution and ordered its sub divisional committee to arrange rally and meeting in favour of the demand informed Rai . He made clear that despite the movement is getting support from may political party till now but the movement is totally unpolitical .
When asked about plan to meet the CM during her Hill visit rai said that it will be decided by the authority of Khambu Rights Movement.
