The Nepali Sahitya Adhyan Samiti, Kalimpong organized the 17th Parasmani Puraskar Alangkaran Samaroh 2014 today.Celebrated Nepali literary figure of Varanasi U.P Durga Prasad Shrestra name was announced this year for the much coveted Parasmani Puraskar but due to ill health he could not make of and on behalf of Shrestra Sikkim Praduman Shrestra was given the award . Shrestra received a shawl, eulogy letter, memento and Rs 10,100 cash from the hands of the chief guest,  Litterateur Ashit Rai . The program was conducted under the president ship of MB Pradhan, president of Nepali Sahitya Adhyan Samiti. Teacher cum journalist
Bhuwan P Khanal presented a brief life history of Parasmani Pradhan. Similarly D.B Mangar presented the life history of Durga Prasad Shrestra . Many renowned poets of Darjeeling hills, Litterateurs, writers, playwrights, principals of different schools, teachers and students were present.
Shrestra happens to be the editor of Varanasi (UP) based Nepali daily “Uday”, and has nearly published 15 nepali books which includes novels , stories, poems, critic writings, biographies etc.Apart from Nepali he has written a short stories in Hindi named ,Satare Mausi' for which he has  been honoured by the Uttar Pradesh government. Apart from this, he has also received “Kusumkumari international Puraskar” and “Bhanu Puraskar” from Deharadun. He was also a member of the Advisory board of the Sahitya Academy Delhi.
