‘Jan Awaj’ forays with honest leadership promise
Mukesh Sharma
Kalimpong, Feb3
A new apolitical organization ‘Jan Aawaj’ made its foray into the politically acclimatized Darjeeling hills on Monday with a sole motive of spreading its vision and motive to give sincere and powerful leadership to the people of the hills.
Prof. Munish Tamang who is currently the leader of the organization arrived in Kalimpong today. “Paying respect to the aspirations of the people here, Jan Aawaj aims at producing a sincere and powerful leadership for achievement of a separate state,” he told journalists.
“Darjeeling is looked upon as central place for all Gorkhas living in the country. But the Gorkhas living in other parts of the country at present has begun to feel that sincere leadership in lacking in here,” he added.
Tamang said while his tour to Assam recently however he could feel people there did not believe in the leadership of Darjeeling and felt cheated. “In Darjeeling it is not the people who are not sincere for Gorkhaland but the leadership is the betrayer,” he added.
Asked on his take on the lok sabha polls, he shot back saying that the election atmosphere in the hills has arrived too early while even the dates have not been finalized. “The focus should be glued on as to which party will take forward our demand before drawing any conclusion,” he said.
Jan Aawaj, Tamang emphasized, will represent voices of all ordinary people of all communities. “It will not only deal with the voices of Gorkha community,” Tamang assured before leaving for Siliguri this evening.
