Two class - VI students from St. George's High School, were brutally beaten up by one of their teachers, of the two students, one boy has been hospitalized.
According to sources, the two boys were boarders at the St. George School hostel - Georgian Hostel - and one of their hostel mates accused them of stealing his Rs 1500. The boy whose money was allegedly stolen then complained to Fr. Michael Singh, who in turn asked the vice-prefect Mr. Madhusudhan Kundu to investigate.
Madhusudhan Kundu who is also the school computer teacher, started to interrogate the boys, but during the course of interrogation, he apparently lost his cool and ended up beating the boys with a huge spatula (dabilo).
Out of the two boys, one was seriously injured. But the school authorities did not do anything.
The matter only came to light yesterday morning, when the boy ran away from hostel and reached his home in the morning, and told his parents about the ordeal. The parents didn't know how to react.
Later in the day when the child showed them his wounds, the parents were aghast, and took him to see the doctor at around 3 P.M, who advised admitting the child to the hospital. The child is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
When reporters  contacted school authorities, Madhusudan Kundu said, "I was only trying to straighten the boys... but I guess I got carried away... I am sorry... I shouldn't have done that... I made a mistake... I will not repeat it in the future..."
The school head Fr. Singh said, "the teacher punished the boy more than he should have, but what needs to be seen is circumstance in which the teacher had to resort to punishing the boy..."
When asked if any action will be taken against the teacher, Fr. Singh said, "we are yet to decide... we will have to call a meeting and see what action needs to be taken..."
The child's father is still in a state of shock, and he said, "today they brutally beat my child... tomorrow they can do the same to other children... kids do make mistake... but in that case, shouldn't the school have intimated us? informed us what happened?"
He sounded distraught when he said, "we sent our child to get education... we didn't send him to get killed"
The wounds on the child are so severe that the hospital authorities had to intimidate the police. However, the police are yet to initiate any action against the erring teacher or the school authorities as the parents have not filed a formal complaint.

We could not ascertain if the parents intended to file the complaint or not.
