Kalimpong June 17, 2015: 

After an appeasement of rapes in this town another case shook Algarah- a hamlet few kilometers away from Kalimpong Town yesterday after the minor victim told the story of the incident to her mother. Micheal Lepcha 24 and Jeewan Gurung 50 have been identified and arrested from Algarah yesterday.

Disclosing the incident, a source told the Journalists that the child of 13 (student of class 7) was sent to the nearest shop to buy a chilly power from home, Micheal Lepcha- a driver by profession, grasped her arm and took her aside. He later telephoned and called Jeewan Gurung, who is also a driver and a resident of 16th mile, upper Pagum Gumba.

Micheal asked Jeewan to come with his car and later drove towards Lava from Algarah with the child; they stopped the car in the unruffled place before reaching Lava and raped her.
After raping, the duo dropped her to the place where Micheal first snatched her arm. They both asked the kid to tighten her lip and not to disclose about the incident to anyone.
After reaching home she told about the incident to her mother who immediately lodged an FIR in Algarah check post.

After the incident came to light, Micheal’s parents handed over him to the police in Algarah Check post where the police from Algarah forwarded the matter to Kalimpong Police Station. The troop left Kalimpong after receiving the information and arrested Jeewan in the evening, yesterday. 

Meanwhile another source from Algarah expressed their astonishment because Micheal had been a decent man till now and his wife is pregnant who is expecting a delivery soon.

The secretary and president of different driver associations also came forward to clarify that the duo had no membership in any of the associations (Algarah Chalak Kalyan Sangathan and Jan Mukti chalak Mahasang.)

However, the duo slapped with section 6 of POCSO Act whose punishment is an imprisonment not less than 10 years along with a fine has been forwarded to Darjeeling court today.
